ClimateScope: a citizen science project for the public
Posted on April 10th, 2009 No commentsClimatescope is a citizen science project that has emerged during the work done for Kilpiscope-Kilpisjärvi art & science development and it has been influenced by our involvement with the 80+1-project.
Climatescope is a project for wide public to participate and involve themselves into the climate change and global warming, and aid the adaptation process of humans, by offering a possibility for personal contribution. The issues concerning climate change are topics that are seen in public debates on a daily basis. However, understanding its influences and tracing actual signs of it in our environment is a work which is commonly left to scientists. The project ClimateScope is engaging the public in the issue of climate change by involving the citizens in the fieldwork. The project is thought out as a long-term project of several years. The Climatescope-project concept has received an honorary mention in The Next Idea-category of the Ars Electronica Prix 2009.
