Our well thought out technical-set-up has given us some sleepless nights. We are currently changing the technical system for the streaming of the sun. Be patient.

this is the failed system: visible antenna-link with camera on the mast.

Below we are testing a new self-built antenna-system with a new location around 1am at night…

About: The midnight sun phenomenon, in which the sun remains visible in the sky continuously for 24 hr or longer, is occurring only in the polar regions. The midnight sun is due to the fact that the plane of the earth’s equator is tilted about 23 1/2 ° to the plane of the ecliptic (the apparent path of the sun through the sky). Thus, at the summer solstice (about June 22), the sun is still visible on the horizon at midnight at all points along the Arctic Circle , 23 1/2 ° of latitude from the North Pole.

A quarter of Finland’s territory lies north of the Arctic Circle and at the country’s northernmost point the sun does not set for 73 days during summer.

Transmission to Linz: The midnight sun that circles around the sky in Kilpisjärvi will be transmitted to the dark Central European night of Linz. The sun will be filmed from a top of the Saana fell and live-streamed to Linz where for four days it will be present in real-time in the middle of the city.

The sun can also be tracked in real time on the internet during the project.
